MADONNA ON TOP AGAIN ...

Wednesday, May 7, 2008 |

Madonna has claimed her seventh U.S. number one album by taking Hard Candy to the top of the Billboard 200 in its first week on release.

The pop superstar now only has Barbra Streisand to beat to become the chart's top number one lady - Streisand has eight chart-topping albums to her name.

Hard Candy sold 280,000 copies to give Madonna her latest number one and topple Mariah Carey's E=MC2, which spent two weeks at the top of the U.S. charts.

Mariah Carey's album falls to two and British singer Leona Lewis' Spirit drops a place to three.
